Catch Reports

Hi to all you fishermen out there.

We are planning to build up a list of Catch Reports for the lakes.

Let us know what you have been catching and with what tactics.  Regular fishermen swear by natural bait such as worms and maggots, but what are your experiences?

Had a 6lb-er from the bottom end of L6 yesterday. I tried 2,3,4 & 5 without a take. The fish were very skittish and seemed very disinterested in the surface baits.

I found a small pod of fish at the bottom end of 6, and they got on the feed straight away and I had the fish out within 5 minutes.

More work needed on my hookbait presentation I think.

Had a lovely 2lb Perch on the 25th August,(pic can be supplied) enjoyed the fishing but the carp mouths are in poor shape, probably due to bad fishing practices previously, shame to see, other than that, great venue, bailiff was freindly and helpfull.

    • Hi Simon

Would love to see a picture of the 2lb Perch you caught at Seven Lakes. With your permission we will load it onto our Website Photo Gallery, so everyone can see it. Please either upload it yourself or email it to us at .

Its a shame to hear that some of the fish mouths you caught were in poor shape as it is unusual for our lakes. We usually get the opposite comments, but I guess that some fish will become the victim of bad practises. I don’t think that everyone who fishes is necessarily a fisherman!

Glad to hear that you liked the venue. We have lots more plans to improve the lakes and facilities over the coming year and will keep everyone up to date via our facebook page at or via our occasional newsletters and on our website via the Blog.

We also have a great and enthusiastic team of bailiffs now working on the lakes, so I’m glad that you found them friendly and helpful. We are however still on the look out for additional bailiffs of a similar mind!

Hope we see you again soon down at Seven Lakes Angling.

Hi guys, apologies for the long delayed response.
alas havent been able to return to sevenlakes since my last visit but I am making the effort to come this sunday as I have a free day and fancy a shot at lake 7 this time.

Well I braved the elements today and set up on lake 7 using good old red maggot on a feeder with a few on the hook, not a massive amount of activity but managed to pull out a lovely 5 or 6lb common carp as witnessed by the bailiff, nothing else came out but being as I havent been out fishing for some months I was pleased not to blank inspite of the awfull weather.
This venue is becoming a very firm favourite with me and I will be back as soon as I can.
Great work with the venue and very freindly and helpfull bailiffs.

Just uploaded a photo of the Perch, might of gone 2lb if i’d left the lobworm bait in the weigh sling!
Unfortunately left the camera on kitchen worktop day I caught the Common, aagghh!

Had success with Prawn as bait on Lake 2 for the Perch Tuesday 22nd. Three between 1 and 2 pounds. Will give them a try on Lake 6, maybe I’ll break that 2 pound barrier.

  5. Had a wonderful days Perch fishing Lake 2 on Tuesday 12th November. Waggler fished red maggot
had 9 Perch over the 1lb mark, topped off with a PB 2lb 10oz.

  6. Had over 20 Small carp all around 1 lb out of lake 5 great fun with the kids.
    Will return soon.

  7. Great lakes, love the swims and the layout. Had a few fish, its just a shame that you dont have many species and a specimen lake with 20lb + fish 🙁

    • Thanks for the feedback Tom.
Glad you like the lakes. We are still working on improving the lakes and bringing in new species is something that we are looking into. Lake 7 does have a few specimen fish over 20lb, but they haven’t been out since we took the lakes on a couple of years ago. We’re waiting for someone to come along and catch them and take photos!
Keep checking in for news updates and visit us again soon.
